The Federal Tax Services practice of Alvarez & Marsal Taxand, LLC, is responsible for providing clients with tax consulting and compliance services. A&M's Federal Tax Services professionals work on a variety of technical subjects, including accounting methods, capital recovery, credits and incentives, pass through tax issues, consolidated returns, mergers and acquisitions, tax audits, as well as tax calculation and interest and penalty matters. In many cases, our Federal professionals manage day-to-day client service relationships, and as such, serve as the gateway to a variety of specialized tax services that help to improve compliance with taxing entities, while maintaining each client's overall tax risk profile.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee complex tax research projects for clients in diverse industries;
  • Conduct research and analysis of a wide range of tax issues related to business transactions and tax implications of financing techniques for a variety of entities and their affiliates;
  • Undertake tax compliance assignments for current and former executives of client corporations and partners of client organizations;
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team;
  • Assume tax-planning responsibilities for Federal and individual clients;
  • Supervise assignments of professional accountants serving as Associates;
  • Apply tax technical knowledge to specific client situations;
  • Interface with client personnel to obtain information and deliver a high quality project on time and on budget;
  • Clearly communicate work plan and project objectives to project team;
  • Train staff on tax rules, as well as TPDG tools and methodologies; and
  • Effectively manage a team of people to deliver a technically and quantitatively correct, well documented work product.
  • Qualifications:
    • Experience ranging from minimal (e.g., internship) to 1 year in law firm, industry or Big 4
    • Knowledge of managing projects, including scheduling, budgeting, client correspondence and billing, as well as excellent technology, research and writing skills;
    • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or other business related field;
    • CPA, Enrolled Agent or other appropriate certification (or in the process of pursuing);
    • Willingness to travel.
